The RMIT Bundoora tri-generation system produces electrical energy, heat and chilled water. The core of the plant is a 1.2MW gas fired generator with heat recovery system for hot water production. The hot water can also be used to power an absorption chiller to produce chilled water. SDA supplied, installed and commissioned all this equipment, as well as a new power switchboard and fault limiting reactor for connecting the generator to the site. The control system features advanced trending and data logging capabilities, remote control, and full remote diagnosis and troubleshooting. The plant has been in operation since early 2017 and has achieved very high levels of availability.
